How much does a yacht charter on the French Riviera cost per week?
Weekly charter fees range from roughly €15,000–€35,000 for vessels under 24 metres, €40,000–€70,000 for a 25–30 metre motor yacht, and €100,000–€220,000 for 35–45 metres. Above that, superyachts are priced on application. The fee covers the yacht, its crew and insurance; fuel, food, berthing and port taxes are drawn from the APA, and VAT is charged separately. What is an APA and how does it work?
The Advance Provisioning Allowance is a float of 25 to 35 per cent of the charter fee, paid in advance and held by the captain. It is not a fee — it is your money, spent on your behalf on fuel, provisioning, berthing and port dues, and accounted for with receipts at the end of the week. Any balance is returned. How do I actually charter a yacht — what are the stages?
Shortlist, viewing, offer, MYBA contract, preference sheet, routing, embarkation. Between the first enquiry and a signed contract there is usually three to four weeks of real work, and it is better done slowly. Can I charter a yacht for just one day?
Yes. Day charters depart from Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco and Saint-Tropez on vessels from 40 to 55 feet, and require far less lead time than a week — two to four weeks is usually sufficient outside August. See our day cruise itineraries for the routes that work best.
What destinations can I reach by yacht from the Riviera?
The Îles de Lérins are thirty minutes from Antibes, Saint-Tropez two hours west of Cannes, and Monaco under an hour from Nice. Further out, Portofino sits within a comfortable week and Corsica roughly a hundred miles offshore. We set out both routes in detail: Saint-Tropez to Portofino and Corsica and Sardinia.
Is fuel included in the charter price?
No. Fuel is drawn from the APA alongside provisioning, berthing and port dues, and it is usually the largest single line — between 35 and 50 per cent of the allowance, rising sharply with the distance covered. A week largely at anchor will underspend its APA; a week that crosses to Corsica will not.
Do I need sailing experience to charter a crewed yacht?
None. Every yacht in our collection is offered fully crewed — captain, deck crew, chef and interior staff — who handle navigation, safety and service throughout. Where children are aboard, we ask about ages at the shortlist stage, since guardrail netting and cabin adjacency decide which vessels are suitable: see chartering with children.
