A Riviera wedding is not an event; it is three or four days of them. The arrival dinner on the Thursday, the ceremony and the long night on the Saturday, the recovery lunch on the Sunday — each with a different location, a different guest list and a different logistical shape, running across a coast where distances are short and traffic is not.
Opera Prestige produces private celebrations across the French Riviera: the houses and the venues, the accommodation for a hundred guests spread across a dozen properties, the transport that moves them, the production, the catering, and the discretion that a wedding of consequence requires from beginning to end.
We also handle the part nobody enjoys — the French legal and administrative reality. A civil ceremony in France requires residency in the commune and a file of documents assembled months ahead; most international couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here. Planning a Riviera Celebration

The Legalities
Marrying in France
A French civil marriage requires at least one party to have resided in the commune for a set period, plus a file of documents — birth certificates, certificates of celibacy, translations — assembled well in advance. Most international couples therefore marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here, which removes every constraint on location and date. We advise on this before anything is booked, and recommend French counsel where the situation is complex.

Timing
Choosing the Weekend
May and June before the coast fills, or September for the warmest sea and the best light. Avoid the Film Festival, the Grand Prix and the first fortnight of August — accommodation and suppliers are unobtainable and guest travel becomes expensive. The full calendar is in our season guide.

Guests
Housing a Hundred People
The hardest part of a Riviera wedding is rarely the party; it is accommodating the guests without scattering them across forty kilometres. We allocate across houses and hotels by family group and proximity, and hold a block of villas early — the booking windows are set out in our note on when to book.

The Week
Beyond the Saturday
The days around the ceremony are where a wedding is actually remembered: a boat for the younger guests, a long lunch at a domaine, a dinner on the Lérins. We produce these with the same care as the main event, drawing on the same events team.

High Summer
Possible, expensive and logistically demanding. Guest accommodation is the binding constraint and must be held eighteen months ahead.
September – October
The Best Window
Warm sea, settled weather, exceptional light and a coast that has emptied. Our usual recommendation for a Riviera celebration.

A French civil ceremony requires at least one party to have established residency in the commune for a prescribed period, together with a documented file submitted in advance. Because of this, most international couples marry legally in their own country and hold a symbolic ceremony here, which lifts all constraints on venue and date. We advise on the position before a date is fixed, and recommend French counsel where needed.
Twelve to eighteen months for a wedding of any scale. The binding constraint is rarely the venue — it is guest accommodation, which on this coast is committed a year ahead for the summer months.
It varies too widely for a useful single figure, but the structure is consistent: venue and accommodation are typically half the budget, catering and production a third, and transport, florals and photography the remainder. We build a costed plan against your actual guest count before anything is committed.
Every outdoor plan we produce carries a covered alternative that is costed, held and rehearsed — not improvised on the day. On this coast a September evening can change quickly, and the contingency is part of the plan rather than an afterthought.
Suppliers and staff work under confidentiality undertakings, reservations are held in our name, and a photography and social media policy is agreed with guests in advance. For celebrations of particular sensitivity we apply the same approach as our villa privacy and security protocol.
