Each September, Cannes turns toward the water. The Cannes Yachting Festival runs from 7 to 12 September 2027, between the Vieux-Port and Port Canto at either end of the Croisette; the first show was held in 1977, which makes 2027 a landmark year.
It is the largest in-water boat show on the Riviera, with some seven hundred boats and yachts from 5 to 50 metres on display. The organisers had not yet published the 2027 opening times at the time of writing, and details can change, so check the official site closer to the date.
The show
The Vieux-Port is the hub for motor yachts and the superyacht extension; Port Canto holds the largest in-water display of big sailing yachts, with tenders, water toys and a brokerage area.
Guests come for different reasons. Owners compare the new models, prospective buyers meet brokers and shipyards, and many simply come for the atmosphere of a town at its best in early September, when the summer crowds have thinned and the sea is still warm.
Where to stay
Hotels along the Croisette are closest to the quays, and the busiest. A villa in the hills (La Californie, Super-Cannes, the Croix des Gardes) or on the Cap d’Antibes keeps the show within a short drive and gives you a quiet place to return to. On the water
The best vantage point is often a boat. A yacht chartered in Cannes lets you see the show from the bay, then carry on to the Lérins Islands for lunch, or end the day with a private dinner on the islands.
