✦ French Alps — Arrivals ✦
Airport transfers
The last hour of the journey is the one nobody plans for. On a Saturday in February, the Moûtiers road decides your first evening.
What we arrange
Chauffeured road transfer
Vehicles equipped for winter roads, drivers who know the leg, and timing set by your flight rather than by a schedule. Child seats, ski boxes and multiple vehicles for large parties.
Helicopter
From Geneva, Chambéry or the altiport to the valley pads. On a changeover Saturday, several hours saved. Always a supplement, and always quoted in advance.
Private aviation and rail
Jets at Chambéry, Grenoble, Annecy or Geneva, and the Courchevel altiport for qualified aircraft. Moûtiers is served by TGV from Paris and by the Eurostar ski train from London in season.
✦ Our Commitment ✦
Why it is worth arranging
It is the link that stays are quickest to leave until last, and the one that most often spoils the first day.
-
01
The Saturday
The whole Tarentaise changes tenants on the same day. In February the climb from Moûtiers can double. That is either anticipated or endured.
-
02
The road, not the airport
Geneva is close and well served. It is the last fifty kilometres, in hairpins and sometimes under snow, that separate a season driver from a city driver.
-
03
The luggage
Fifteen people with skis, boots and cases do not fit into what people imagine. The sizing is done in advance, not in the car park.
-
04
One single quote
The chalet rate covers the rental of the property. Transfers, like passes and staffing, are priced alongside it and set out in the same document before anything is committed.
✦ Expert Guide ✦
Four ways into the Three Valleys, and what each is actually worth.
Geneva
The usual gateway, around two and a half hours from Meribel and Courchevel. The best international air links, and a border crossing to plan for depending on where you fly from.
Chambéry and Lyon
Chambéry is closest at one hour forty-five but thinner on scheduled flights. Lyon, at two and a half hours, works better from southern Europe. Both take private aviation.
The Courchevel altiport
At 2,008 metres, above the resort. It takes helicopters and qualified light aircraft, and puts passengers minutes from the chalet. From Meribel, allow twenty minutes by road.
Rail
Moûtiers is the station for all three valleys, thirty minutes from Meribel and twenty-five from Courchevel. Direct TGV from Paris, and the Eurostar ski train from London in season. We handle the station-to-chalet leg.
✦ Planning ✦
The days to plan for
Christmas and February Saturdays
A full Tarentaise changeover. This is where a helicopter earns its cost, and where an improvised transfer costs half a day.
Sundays and weekdays
Shifting the arrival by a day changes the climb completely. Where your dates allow it, that is the simplest and cheapest answer.
Snowfall
Chains required, passes closed, delays compounding. Our drivers are equipped, and we adjust timings live rather than leaving you waiting.
✦ FAQ ✦
Questions & answers
About two and a half hours to Meribel or Courchevel in normal conditions. On a high-season Saturday, allow more. Chambéry is one hour forty-five, Lyon two and a half hours.
Yes. Winter tyres and chains on board, with drivers who run this leg all season. Child seats and ski boxes are requested at the time of booking.
On a high-season Saturday it saves several hours and changes the first day. On a Tuesday in January the road is plenty. We say so in both directions rather than selling it on principle.
Yes, under conditions. The altiport takes helicopters and light aircraft, but its 537-metre runway with a gradient reaching 18.66 percent requires a site-specific pilot qualification, and aircraft over 2.5 tonnes need prior authorisation from the French civil aviation authority. We arrange the approach and the slots.
Yes. If you already have your accommodation, we handle arrivals, departures and movements in resort as a standalone engagement.
